Our Role
Reporting to the VP Operations, Asia Pacific, and belonging to our global Senior Management Team, the Director Of Operations leads our plant and quarry network across our Northern Region of Asia Pacific. The role is key to realising Graymont’s business improvement and growth projects and is responsible for shaping and cascading the Region’s vision, advocating and role modelling the One Graymont culture, and fostering collaborative relationships with functional partners and experts, to drive the company’s growth. This is great opportunity to leverage both technical and interpersonal skills, along with business and leadership acumen, to drive ongoing safety, cultural and operational improvements.
This role can be located from either Sydney or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure safe and sustainable operation of our Northern Region (NSW & QLD) assets while achieving targeted financial outcomes.
- Lead, manage and support the delivery of specific business plans and strategic projects to improve overall business performance.
- Monitor and manage operational financial performance, deliver effective cost management to enable business and financial performance, and support our growth.
- Lead, motivate and empower others to build employee engagement and maintain a high performing team, role model collaboration with cross-functional teams and resources.
- Manage relationships and facilitate communication across our business to optimise operational performance, and fully utilise the expertise and capacity of resources within our global/geography matrix structure.
Key Outcomes include:
- Safe and sustainable operations that meet financial and other key performance targets, and achieve strategic priorities in line with our business plan and budgets.
- Operational leaders are empowered, with key activities and projects effectively delegated, controlled and reported in line with the business plan and budgets.
- Long-term mining, exploration and lease management activities are supported to ensure adequate resource life and permitting.
- Maintenance excellence strategies are implemented, measured and managed to enhance operational reliability.
- Overall equipment effectiveness to ensure production targets can be met.
- Compliance with relevant regulatory departments and bodies, local and state governments, and other relevant groups and stakeholders.
The successful candidate may have qualifications in Engineering, Mining, Business Administration or similar. The role is best suited to strong operational experience in a mining, manufacturing or a related and transferable industry setting, combined with financial acumen and a demonstrated ability to lead a safe and sustainable environment. The ability to work effectively in a matrix structure and manage relationships, to support strategic planning and develop budgets, to execute cost control in a capital-intensive business, and to lead others and develop talent, is required. The role demands an ability to lead change, and improve operational processes in multi-site operation, and will require regular travel through New South Wales and Queensland.
