Role Details
The Director, Social Policy leads a policy team and works closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders across the department and government to provide high level strategic advice, lead whole-of-government initiatives, and collaborate on innovative Social Policy development. The Director is responsible for managing a high-performing team to deliver outcomes and provide timely advice to the Premier and Cabinet, in addition to leading the delivery of policy projects for the Premier and senior departmental executives. The Director will play an important leadership role in shaping local and national Social Policy priorities, including across health, human services, and early childhood reforms.
- The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
- The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
- Some intrastate and interstate travel involving overnight absences will be required.
- This role requires a National Criminal History check.
Essential Conditions:
- Possess a discipline relevant tertiary qualification in social science, business management or other relevant field.

The Social Policy team delivers specialist policy advice to the Premier and Cabinet on portfolio Cabinet business, as well as providing across government leadership in the development of strategic Social Policy and projects in accordance with the government’s priorities. This includes executing strategic policy projects that are a priority for the Premier and Cabinet, providing high quality strategic advice to the Premier and Chief Executive on critical issues across government, and driving and influencing the direction of complex, cross-government Social Policy reforms.
