ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you'll be responsible for overseeing and governing the projects that make up the ITS portfolio.
You'll provide visibility and transparency into the pipeline of technology projects and programs and their alignment to business priorities. This position is part of the IT leadership team and is a critical business-facing role that ensures the portfolio of technology projects and programs are aligned to business priorities and AMSA's enterprise roadmap.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead the Technology Portfolio team that includes capabilities covering project management, business analysis, change management and testing.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio view of technology projects and programs, including their delivery status and strategic alignment to business priorities.
- Manage the pipeline of technology projects and programs, including the allocation of delivery leadership and associated project delivery capabilities.
- Provide portfolio level visibility and tracking of benefits, including the oversight of any agreed benefits realisation framework and approach.
- Ensure the appropriate project management methodologies are leveraged depending on the project or program.
- Ensure where possible modern project management practices are used to enable incremental delivery of value to the business throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Engage effectively with AMSA's PMO and ensure any required reporting and processes are followed as required.
- Act as an escalation point for any major delivery issues or risks across the portfolio of technology projects and programs.
- Develop and maintain a set of standards covering project management, business analysis, change management and testing.
- Ensure quality of delivery in line with the agreed standards.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio level view of technology investments over multiple years.
- Working closely with the IT operations and service delivery team ensuring IT procurement and contract management practices are in line with agreed standards and enable the fulfillment of obligations with respect to procurement policies at AMSA and within government.
- Actively manage key vendors and outsource partners to maximise value and ensure delivery is in line with contractual obligations and performance metrics.
- Collaborate continuously with members of the IT leadership team to maintain alignment across teams.
- Manage the budget and resources associated with the capabilities within the Technology Portfolio team; and
- Lead, mentor and manage a team of IT project professionals and support the personal development of your team members through development plans and training.
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in a similar role with broad portfolio/program delivery and governance experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, including staff performance management, budget management and resource management.
- You'll be a self-starter who thrives in an environment where you can work on complex problems and have the autonomy to drive transformational change.
