They will support the overall structure of the team by demonstrating effective communication skills, contributing to a centralised referral triaging process, and attending regular meetings. Importantly, Disability Services Clinicians will form strong working relationships with frontline QCS teams as well as key external agencies, such as the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), to deliver outcomes for prisoners with a disability. Administer, coordinate or triage appropriate assessments (such as cognitive capacity, adaptive functional skills or behavioural needs) for prisoners who may have a disability to provide evidence and support access requests to the NDIA. Analyse and interpret assessment results and provide written reports, to inform support needs for prisoners relating to disability. Communicate effectively with prisoners in relation to assessment results, recommendations, support needs and disability access including consent forms and applications. Utilise knowledge and experience of best practice behaviour support, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to support front line staff working with prisoners with a disability.
