Job description

We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic Support Workers to provide person-centred support to people living with a disability. Our goal is to assist participants in building their capacity and independence, skill-building, and accessing their community through social inclusion. This is a very rewarding and fulfilling position, starting on a casual basis with the potential for permanent employment.

As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to engage with individuals and groups in a variety of settings. These include participants' homes, respite facilities, and various community locations. You may also be involved in supporting participants in educational environments, workplaces, social settings, and recreational activities. This diverse range of environments allows you to provide comprehensive and personalised support, ensuring that each participant's unique needs and goals are met in the most effective way possible.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Providing direct support to individuals within their own homes, assisting them in learning and developing independent living skills.

- Assisting with transportation needs and promoting social inclusion by helping participants integrate sustainably into the community.

- Supporting and facilitating Utopia Care’s various programs and workshops.

- Offering life skills training and linking participants to additional services and resources.

- Providing respite care and personal care support to participants as needed.

- Assisting participants with shopping, attending appointments, and managing daily activities.

Requirements:

- Certificate III or higher in Disability or any other relevant qualification.

- NDIS Worker Screening Check.

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module.

- NDIS Worker Supporting Effective Communication Module.

- Working with Children’s Check.

- Current Driver's License.

- Own reliable vehicle with fully comprehensive car insurance.

- Proficient English language skills with good communication abilities.

- HLTAID011: Provide First Aid and CPR.

- HLTWHS005: Conduct Manual Tasks Safely.

- Medication Training.

- Knowledge and experience of working within Restrictive Practices Framework.

- CPI Safety Intervention Training (Utopia Care can facilitate this).

- Other relevant training, courses, qualifications.
