About the role.
We have an exciting and rewarded support opportunity to share with you. Located in Darwin, you will be part of a care team to support individuals experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and verbal aggression. You will provide full assistance with all ADL's as well as clinical support. Due to the nature and complexity of the client's needs, you will need to have relevant disability experience. An extensive onboarding program will be provided with buddy shifts to help you with your transition.
Your key responsibilities
Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate mental health Support Worker who can undertake the following key responsibilities:
- Assisting individuals in developing and maintain coping strategies to manage their symptoms.
- Facilitate and participate in therapeutic activities and sessions.
- Monitor and record individual's mental health status and report any significant changes.
- Personal care
- Continence management
- Medication administration
- Domestic assistance
- Manual handling
About you.
To join our team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience of handling individuals showing aggressive behaviours (essential)
- Previous disability experience (minimum 2 years)
- Manual handling experience (essential)
- Personal care experience
- Current First aid and CPR
- NDIS Screening Card
- Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Medication certificate (or willing to obtain)
We are also looking for someone with great communication skills, who works well in a team, has a caring and supportive nature, has specialised skills in supporting people experiencing mental health issues, and is client-focused.
