The Role:
Casual Disability Support Workers with availability to fill ad hoc shifts as they arise. Run errands for client, basic administration, working with suppliers and other service providers.
Our Client/Customer:
Adult male with complex needs. Epilepsy is an existing condition controlled by medication. Our customer is mostly non-verbal, does not use Auslan and uses limited natural signals as a communication tool. He requires support for independent living and to maintain his skills.
Requirements of the Role:
Be able and willing to work shift work. Currently:
- 7am to 3pm,
- 3pm to 11pm,
- 5pm to 11pm
- 11pm to 7am.
(These may change in the future).
- Administer medication with commitment to the safety of the client and Legislative requirements.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Work autonomously and within a small team.
- Prepare nutritious meals.
- Be committed to service to the Participant; have patience, empathy, problem solving skills.
- Communicate verbally, consistently, clearly and concisely although the client may not appear to be listening – he has good receptive communication.
- Attend to personal hygiene including showering, shaving and continence aid-changing in a caring and respectful manner.
- Support the Participant with Community Access and Experiences initially with the support of another worker and when confident, on an individual basis.
- Assist and encourage client to carry out interdisciplinary therapeutic exercises (i.e. Physio).
- Follows direction/instructions.
- Report clearly and concisely, daily notes and incidents.
