Job Title: Disability Support Worker (GEELONG)

Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Disability Support Workers. In this role, you will provide essential assistance and companionship to individuals with disabilities, helping them to live fulfilling and independent lives. Your responsibilities will include offering personal care, facilitating social activities, and providing practical support with daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with disabilities in their daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household chores.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
- Encourage and empower individuals to participate in social and recreational activities, both within the community and at home.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the holistic well-being of each individual.
- Assess, report and act on risk related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and communicate effectively with the rest of the support team.
Skills/qualities:
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage with clients, build rapport, motivate and build positive professional relationships.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Work in a strengths-based recovery-oriented mode of practice
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs and schedules of individuals.
- Prior experience in Disability Support or a related field.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Experience:
- Experience working with people with complex disabilities including Cerebral Palsy.
- Experience assisting people with personal care tasks
- Experience working within an NDIS framework (desirable)
Qualifications:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services or related field. Or willingness to commence study.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
- Relevant experience in working in a similar role
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Current NDIS workers screener check and working with children’s check
- Current drivers license
- Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services or related field. Or willingness to commence study.
- Flexibility and willingness to accept shifts between 8am and 7pm weekdays.
