About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker (DSW), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients. Your responsibilities will include:
Direct Support: Providing hands-on assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and community outings.
Emotional Support: Building meaningful relationships with clients, actively listening to their needs, and promoting their well-being.
Skill Development: Assisting clients in developing essential life skills, such as communication, mobility, and self-care.
Advocacy: Advocating for the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities within the organization and the broader community.
Home and Living
Our Home and Living program is a 24/7 rostered care model that provides safe, stable and a calm home environment for clients with a disability to help them live in their home.
We have several Home and Living clients requiring supports at a number of locations in the Hobart region and surrounding suburbs.
Adult Respite Options
Respite Options is a short-term accommodation service where clients can experience a range of different activities and adventures. We also offer services for clients looking to ease into an independent living arrangement or transitioning home from a hospital stay.
The Support Worker works across a 24/7 roster including sleep overs and weekends and reports to the Program Manager.
A bit about you
We are looking for candidates with a diverse range of experience supporting people with a disability including children and young people. This may include working with clients with a disability, trauma-based behaviours, residential care setting, education and/or experience in the aged care sector.
We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated and diligent individuals, with the ability to think on their feet. They will be resilient, and solutions focused with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Essential Requirements
Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Employee, not volunteer) preferable with NDIS endorsement.
A National Criminal History Background Check no older than 6 months.
Australian Drivers Licence.
HLTAID011 or HLTAID003 Current First Aid Certificate.
HLTHSP006 Assist clients with medication.
HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems.
NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
Our Desirable Requirements
Hold a minimum of Certificate 3 in community services / or a similar qualification; and
Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Training.
