You will provide a range of services to assist participants in their daily living needs, including personal care, domestic assistance, be actively involved in their local community, and engaged in meaningful opportunities.
Flexibility is key: Be available for a variety of shifts including morning (early starts 6am), afternoon shifts, active awake, and sleepovers weekdays and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care and support to people with Younger onset Dementia;
- Focus on the person recognising their individuality and uniqueness of needs
- Provide practical assistance to people while developing their independent living skills.
- Provide appropriate support, including de-escalating their behaviors during their hard times.
- Work as part of a team to ensure continuity and consistency of support to participants
- Adhere to administrative procedures including data collection and maintenance of participant records.
The successful applicant must have:
- Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of the impacts of dementia for individuals, carers and their support networks
- The ability to work with clients in a goal-directed way, develop care plans and implement practical strategies for clients, problem solve and enable positive outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and build relationships with individuals, carers, and families based on mutual respect and trust.
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal combined with a proactive and hands-on attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and follow directions from the supervisor.
- A reliable, punctual, and mature attitude with a demonstrated ability to work with limited direct supervision.
- An understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality, ethical behaviour, policies, and procedures.
