About the Unit

The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest single train ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates to produce Nitric Acid, and Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara are also building a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

This role will be based in our Perth CBD office.

Responsibilities

Looking for an exciting new challenge? Yara are seeking applications for their permanent role of Sustainability Engineer. Reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Engineer is responsible for using process engineering techniques and knowledge to achieve the company's safety, quality and compliance goals and objectives.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Understanding of Safeguard Mechanism reforms, Yara's goal for decarbonization and follow the pathway.
  • Initiation of decarbonization projects
  • Process studies for 0.5%, 10% and 20% renewable hydrogen project
  • Commissioning support for 0.5% R-H2 plant.
  • Process support for CCS studies, engineering
  • ISO-50001 Energy Management system monitoring, reporting
  • Government and corporate reporting on energy and emissions.
  • Process support for HESQ, projects, production, and process safety departments.
  • Leading and participating in plant testing and commissioning activities where process engineering experience is required.
  • Leading Risk Assessment and PHA studies, participate as Subject Matter Expert
  • Contribute to Yara globally for engineering knowledge sharing and review of technical and operating standards (TOPS)
  • Proven experience in equipment sizing.
  • Working with and leading a dynamic team of individuals to ensure compliance with various government initiatives such as EEO, NGER/NPI.CR 360, and EPA reporting.
  • Interacting with all other departments and functions as during pre-commissioning and commissioning, TA projects
  • Use the safeguard mechanism guidelines to streamline the GHG/ Energy projects.
  • Lead through management system audits, safeguard mechanism audits.
  • Prepare the road map for GHG projects and actively participate in implementation of these projects.
  • Conduct design reviews as required and participate in workshops.
  • Ability to carryout Aspen Plus / HYSYS simulations.
  • Develop P&IDs, and update PFD as required
  • Risk assessment authority for MoC
  • Conduct and participates in operations, MoC, incident HAZOPs and reviews.

Profile

  • Bachelor's/Masters with any engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering is preferred). Full member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience with knowledge of ammonia, nitric acid and ammonia plant is advantageous

  • Strong SAP skills, Advanced MS office suite experience, Knowledge of Aspen Plus software

  • Must be fluent in Written and Spoken English.

  • Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. Temporary work visa holders are not eligible for this role.
