Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), together with its investment advisory affiliates, has over US$1.5 trillion in assets under management or supervision. With over 40 years of global investment experience, MSIM strives to provide outstanding long-term investment performance, service and a comprehensive suite of Investment Management solutions to a diverse client base, which includes governments, institutions, corporations and individuals worldwide. MSIM Australia Profile

MSIM established a presence in Australia in 1994 and currently manages in excess of A$18Bn for investors in Australia & New Zealand across multiple strategies in Private Credit & Equity, Unlisted Real Assets, public equities, public fixed income and liquid alternatives.

Responsibilities

The individual will work closely with existing sales and CRM teams’ engagement activities with current and prospective investors, and connected stakeholders (e.g. research and consultant community).

Operating in a coordinated manner and as a complement to the current sales and CRM coverage, MSIM is seeking a highly strategic, entrepreneurial and driven individual to lead the sales and ongoing relationship activities with MSIM Australia’s existing third-party distribution partners.

In each case, there is substantial opportunity to support and drive the scaling of these relationships to deliver material growth for both MSIM and the distribution partners. Acting as an intermediary, key responsibilities will be to enhance the engagement and connectivity of distributors with the necessary resources to drive sales and awareness of MSIM’s investment capabilities. This will include contributing to evaluating existing arrangements with the scope to implement new product strategies where demand and profitability is mutually viable.

The role will successfully lead the proactive sales and ongoing relationship activities with MS Wealth Management Australia, responsible for servicing existing relationships, to cultivate improved operations across the product team and FA teams.

It is expected over the medium term, the existing coverage would extend beyond the aforementioned groups to establish a targeted sales strategy to engage unrealised opportunities across highly reputable wealth management business and investors, such as private banking groups, family offices and related advisory parties.

A thorough understanding of the Australian wholesale markets is imperative, in conjunction with outstanding relationship management focused on deliverable sales outcomes.

The individual will play an integral role in formulating a coherent strategy for how MSIM grows its activities and business outside of the large scale core institutional investor market. This will consider the existing relationships in place and also the implications for new product strategy and necessary resources to be successful.

Qualifications

Knowledge Required:

  • Strong understanding of the asset management industry including knowledge of the Australian wholesale/ intermediary market
  • Clear understanding of the local regulatory environment and ability to apply this to distribution strategy, individual client situations and relationships
