The role:
As our Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for leading our Distribution function, ensuring our team is operating safely, efficiently and are committed to continuously improving. The role will be fast-paced, with opportunities to showcase your leadership skills and enhance the performance of our professional team. The role will suit someone who likes getting hands-on and is capable of building good internal relationships as well as mutually beneficial external relationships. This is initially a fixed term contract with potential to extend and become permanant.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- All aspects of the warehousing and distribution function, to ensure safe, efficient use of warehouse space, assets, inventory, labour, equipment and consumables
- Proactively liaising on a daily basis with Customer Care, Sales, Technical Service, Distribution personnel and Suppliers to balance expectations on cost efficiency, service and inventory levels while directing distribution and replenishment activities
- Conducting training of other company employees and contracted drivers in warehouse and distribution issues as required.
- Monitor, measure and report on metrics for service and delivery performance, labour and equipment utilization and inventory accuracy.
- Initiate or participate in assessments of existing work processes, procedures and policies to identify or escalate potential improvements.
- Report on Distribution cost and customer service results.
- Participate in meetings, committees and action teams as appropriate.
- Report weekly to the ANZ Distribution Manager on warehouse and distribution productivities.
- To ensure Legal compliance of the warehousing and distribution functions against local, state and national legislation. For example, but not limited to, Chain of Responsibility, Poison Regulations and Dangerous Goods Codes for Storage and Transport.
Our ideal candidate may have:
- Experience leading Distribution
- Experience within a Dangerous Goods environment
- Experience with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code
- Understanding of 5S or similar
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills
