The Opportunity
We're excited to offer a full-time opportunity for a Diving Safety Officer to join our dedicated team at our picturesque Chowder Bay facility. This pivotal role supports our marine science research by ensuring the highest standards of Diving Safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive diving services and support to our research team, both at SIMS and at our partner universities.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for fieldwork proposals involving both diving and snorkelling.
- Facilitate diving and safety inductions, and assess fieldwork competencies.
- Ensure compliance with diving certifications and safety regulations.
- Participate in fieldwork across diverse locations in Australia.
- Uphold our commitments to partner universities by supporting diving and snorkelling operations.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced commercial SCUBA diving certification with over 100 logged hours.
- Minimum Part 1 ADAS Dive Supervisor qualifications.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen Therapy.
- Deep understanding of maritime and SCUBA WHS regulations, ideally within a research or university setting.
- Experience in managing health and safety systems, with a strong grasp of relevant legislation and policy development.
- A proactive team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, who prioritises safety above all.
- Is able to be physically onsite at our location at Chowder Bay, Mosman, NSW
