The Engagement Officer is to assist in the administration and networking of the Midwest Multicultural Association (MWMA).
This position is funded under the Office of Multicultural Interests’ Community Support Fund program to 31 December 2025 and is subject to an annual report of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) being met.
The position proactively coordinates and facilitates a range of administrative assists with event management and undertakes some research and project related activities.
Hours of Work
- Commencing at 15 hours per week
- Wednesday & Thursday 9am to 2.30pm in office (1/2 hr lunch)
- Balance 5 hours for meetings/project work as needed.
Responsibilities
- Represent MWMA with a consistent and friendly demeanor across face-to-face interactions, emails, phone calls, and social media platforms.
- Maintain confidentiality and organise important documents electronically or in hard copy.
- Assist in managing events, including budgets, to ensure accurate control and monitoring of income and expenses.
- Ensure compliance with work health and safety, equal opportunity and other legislative requirements concerning interactions with the public.
- promote positive networking by embodying the organisation's principles and values, including professionalism, warmth, and respectfulness.

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in engaging with community and developing effective working relationships.
- Experience coordinating gatherings of people/events.
- National Police Clearance

- Driver’s Licence
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse communities or organisations
- Experience in working both independently and in a team.
- Ability to speak and write in English.
- Ability to produce written communications which are accurate and concise.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, judgement and discretion whilst working in an environment that requires confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to apply problem-solving skills in order to achieve the best outcome for the organisation and partner organisations.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines as required.
Highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to write reports and grant applications.
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours if required (for example at a festival on the weekend)
