Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service Inc. (CRDVS) aims to use its specialist knowledge and skills to prevent domestic and family violence in the community and empower those affected by it.

How You'll Make a DifferenceWe are now looking for a full-timeDomestic Violence Assistance Worker based in Cairns, QLD.
This role provides initial client support and administrative functions, reporting to the Business and Finance Manager, and supports the overall operation and objectives of the organization.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing a warm welcome and initial response to clients in person or via telephone
- Conducting basic risk assessments and offering referral information
- Providing information with protection order applications for victims of Domestic Violence
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records as per organisational policies
- Supporting the planning and execution of the Annual General Meeting
- Managing administrative tasks related to Human Services Quality Framework audits
- Assisting with data management and regular updates of the ChilliDB database
- Participating in professional development and team cooperation to enhance service effectiveness
To qualify, you will need a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Community Services, Diploma in Office and Business Administration, or be working towards a relevant degree in the social or behavioural sciences (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counselling).
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Demonstrated experience in administration or reception roles
- Skills in basic crisis support, risk assessment, and information referral
- Interpersonal skills with proven ability to work cooperatively within a team
- Capacity to work within organisational guidelines and relevant legislation
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of legislation impacting domestic and family violence
