Drafting Manager

Catering to first home buyers market this well-known and successful WA company deliver award-wining single storey homes in the Perth metro area.
They are looking for an experienced Drafting Manger or Senior Draftsperson to lead their cohesive drafting team of six drafters. Reporting to the Operations Manager this position works closely with the wider company to ensure precise and accurate drawing are produced facilitating a seamless process and excellent customer experience.
This would suit someone with significant drafting experience already working in a similar position or someone looking to step up and grow their career.

Responsibilities

• Manage the drafting team to see clients through from pre-site to construction
• Manage the drafting work flow to ensure the team are working on relevant priorities in line with agreed time frames and company objectives
• Ensure preliminary plans and building approval plans are completed accurately and on time
• QA checks of working drawings and sign off
• Provide guidance and advice to team members related to floor plans, designs and building codes
• Run team meetings, and one to ones to ensure clarity and positive outcomes for all
• Provide ongoing mentorship training and development for the team
• Manage expectations of all internal and external stakeholders including Council, Engineers, Building Surveyors
• Continually look for ways to improve and streamline drafting processes, quality, expertise and internal customer service
• Work collaboratively with the wider construction team ensure a smooth collaborative internal process and continued excellent customer service

Essential experience

• Drafting Lead or Drafting Manager experience ideally with a WA Home builder
• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Significant experience in drafting roles in the residential building industry
• In-depth building and construction knowledge of single storey home
• Working knowledge of building regulations, Australian Standards and relevant local shire/council planning application requirements
• Competent user of ArchiCAD and Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent attention to detail and planning skills
• People management/ leadership skills and a friendly can-do attitude
