We have been tasked in sourcing a (Junior) Drill & Blast Engineer on a minimum 12 month temp contract, for our major mining client, based in the WA Pilbara. As Drill and Blast Engineer, your responsibility is to design and plan for drilling and blasting activities in addition to:
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Create Drill and Blast designs - patterns that determine the layout and sequence of drill holes, explosives placement, and detonation timing.
- Flyrock and vibration modelling
- Planning – collaborating with geologists and mining engineer to develop a D&B plan to optimise ore recover whilst minimising environmental impact
- Safety compliance
- D&B optimisation and efficiencies: Continuously seeking ways to improve drilling and blasting efficiency, such as enhancing fragmentation, reducing dilution, and minimizing ore loss, to maximize productivity and profitability
- Monitoring & Analysis: Monitoring drilling and blasting performance through data analysis and field observations to identify areas for improvement and adjust plans accordingly
- Equipment Selection: Selecting appropriate drilling equipment, explosives, and accessories based on the specific requirements of each mining operation

What Qualifications Do I Require?
- Bachelor of Mining Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 2 years’ experience Drill & Blast design experience
- Software experience: Vulcan | Blast Logic | Viewshot | MS Office Suite
- Project management | Power BI | Shot firing experience would be highly regarded
