About the role:
As the DACS Level 3 Counsellor for this service, you will provide specialised counselling services to clients with a substance use disorder. This may include conducting assessments, developing case formulations, and assessing factors such as mental health and psychosocial history. Throughout your commitment to this role, there will be times in which you will travel to provide this service to some of the smaller surrounding communities as outreach. There will be support provided by members of our large multidisciplinary team, as well as being linked in with a clinical supervisor. Education is provided monthly by the DACS team and further ongoing education is encouraged.
Where you'll be working:
This position is based in Moree and you will be part of the multidisciplinary DACS Team, working alongside other clinicians. In this position, you will be required to provide counselling services to clients in the Mehi Sector.
DACS aims to improve health and reduce harm for individuals, their families and carers, and the wider community.
DACS is a specialist treatment service for people with substance use problems. Harm Minimisation is a key tenet of the model of care. It is a multidisciplinary service that includes nursing, medical, and allied health clinicians alongside peer support and Aboriginal health workers. DACS operates in a range of community, outpatient and inpatient settings, providing prevention, early intervention drug, and Alcohol assessment and treatment counselling, and case management throughout Hunter New England Health.
About the location:
Moree, in north-western NSW, is located 627km North West of Sydney and 481km south west from Brisbane. The combination of the rich black soil and the Mediterranean style climate make it an ideal place to base yourself with both relaxation and adventure being catered for. The famous artesian spas are naturally heated to 41 degrees Celsius acting as a huge drawcard for locals and tourists alike. Requirements:
Must hold a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Nursing or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association and full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), where applicable.
Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.

You are happy to travel 1-2 days weekly to outlying areas to complete this role.
