Job description

Northern Midlands Council is seeking applications from a Diploma qualified and experienced person to join the Childhood Early Learning team as a Senior Room Leader, based in Perth. The position will be offered on a full time basis, although part-time requests will be considered.

About the role

Due to an upcoming expansion of our services at our new purpose built Perth Early Learning Centre, we require experienced Diploma qualified educators to join our growing team as Senior Room Leaders.

The successful applicant will play a critical role in ensuring the successful operation of the room and the well-being of both children and staff within the room. You will contribute to the development of the Children's programming, aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and will collaborate with staff and families to develop and deliver enriched quality learning programs and environments that meet the individual needs of the children in your room. 

You will be a positive and supportive mentor and coach to our passionate and professional team of Early Childhood Educators and you will need to promote and support the understanding of the planning cycle, the EYLF, My Time Our Place and the National Quality Framework throughout the Service.

About you

You will be passionate about your work and take pride in making a positive difference to families and the team. You will be a great communicator with both adults and children, and you will be proactive in your approach to care and support. You will also have a sound understanding of the health and safety risks involved with working with children and be able to demonstrate sensitivity, patience, and kindness.

Our ideal candidate must have:

  • Completed the Diploma in Early Childhood Education within the last 10 years (ssential)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-Diploma qualification experience working with children aged 0-5 years (Essential). 
  • Minimum 2 years experience with programming for children aged 0-5 years (Essential)
  • Experience in leadership roles within a childcare setting
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the EYLF
  • First aid certificate or willingness to undertake the training
  • a Working with Vulnerable People Employee Check (Essential)
  • Hold a current Tasmanian Drivers Licence
  • Experience with OHSC age groups would be advantageous

The successful applicant must pass a pre-employment medical that includes a full musculoskeletal and fitness assessment, and a urine drug & alcohol screen, and must provide a Police Check showing no serious offences.

Terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
