A bit about the role
An exciting opportunity exists for qualified Early Childhood Language Teachers to deliver the Victorian Department of Education’s Early Childhood Language Program for Wyndham City. We are seeking Early Childhood Language Teachers who will be responsible for the delivery of the language program, in partnership with the Early Education & Care Service team.
The state-funded Early Childhood Language Program has been rolled out to Early Childhood services to provide children across Victoria the opportunity to learn in a language other than English for part of their kindergarten program.

To be successful in this opportunity, you will be an experienced Early Childhood Teacher who is passionate, motivated, enthusiastic, and shares a commitment to Early Childhood Education by providing innovative and quality outcomes for children. You also will have native/bilingual proficiency, in a language other than English to support in delivering the program through a unique play-based environment that encourages learning through experimentation, trial and error, watching, listening and participating.
As the Early Childhood Language Teacher, you will report to the Kindergarten Team Leader. In addition, you would be the face of the service as you engage with Council’s diverse community on different levels including building relationships with families, staff groups and the community. Engagements that are focussed on ensuring positive family and community participation in line with Council’s shift to an integrated service approach.
We have three temporary positions until 30 June 2027;
- 2x Temporary Part Time positions, 36 hours per week; 24 contact hours, 12 planning hours.
- 1x Temporary Part Time position, 31.5 hours per week; 21 contact hours, 10.5 planning hours.

What you will deliver
- The creation of a warm, welcoming, flexible and inclusive environment where supportive and respectful partnerships with all families are paramount
- A supportive environment where all children are supported within a high-quality Kindergarten program, inclusive of all children
- The ability to work collaboratively with the kindergarten teacher and other Early Childhood staff in the kindergarten program to co-plan and co-deliver the language program
- A continuous improvement approach to your work and commitment to ongoing professional learning to further develop skills, expertise and teaching capacity
- Follow best practice procedures in line with the unit’s policies and procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
What you will bring
- Completion of a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), or other relevant approved ACECQA qualification
- Native/Bilingual proficiency in a language other than English; Language Teachers will be required to undergo a Language Proficiency Assessment
- Experience working in early years education and solid understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework
- Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed communication skills
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills
- Understanding of the variety of local, state and commonwealth guidelines and regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance in line with council policies
- Early Childhood Teachers who are proficient in languages other than English are encouraged to apply. Punjabi, Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish, Karen and other languages will also be considered.
- Current certificates in Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management and First Aid
- A current Early Childhood Registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and agreement to undergo a Police Check.
