West Wimmera Health Service is seeking an Early Parenting Practitioner to join our team based in Nhill. The successful applicant may be required to work across various sites as mutually agreed upon.
In this part time role (16 hours per week) the successful candidate will establish and maintain effective supportive, safe and welcoming learning environments for children and their parents.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- The Early Parenting Practitioner is a key member of the WWHS Positive Parenting Program clinical team providing frontline care to families to assist in the establishment and maintenance of healthy parent-child relationships.
- The role assists parents in learning to care for their young children and themselves as parents, including establishment and maintenance of feeding, sleeping, rest, play and limit setting of behaviour, safety and hygiene. All interventions are founded on a sound understanding of the enduring nature of attachment relationships for the healthy development of children into adulthood.
- Plan, organise, implement, guide and evaluate play and age-appropriate learning experiences for young children, encouraging parents to participate.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
- Diploma of Nursing or Children’s Services or equivalent or other relevant parenting qualification.
- If applicable (Nursing qualification), hold current annual registration practising certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience and understanding of rural and regional issues impacting on individual and family wellbeing.
- Previous experience working in Early Parenting position or field.
- An understanding, or knowledge of, infant mental health and attachment.
- Understanding of working within the WWHS Best Interest Practice Framework.
- A strong background of working in partnership with families.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience working in an Early Parenting Centre.
- Experience in working with families experiencing multiple and complex issue.
- An understanding of, or ability to identify, the range of services available in the community sector to support families.
- An understanding of the importance of reflective practice.
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as per current Department of Health Directive.
- Flu Vaccination
- Australian Driver’s Licence
