Small Businesses and Creating Local Jobs Industry DevelopmentVisitor Economy Manufacturing, Industrial & Transport Food & Beverage Healthcare Circular Economy Creating Vibrant Precincts This position will play a critical role in achieving tangible outcomes across all of the 4 priorities outlined above. It is also responsible for monitoring, compiling and communicating key economic data; particularly regarding the economic vitality, sustainability and performance of the City’s business centres, sectors and industrial estates to guide Council’s ongoing delivery of an Economic Development strategy and priority programs and projects.
ESSENTIAL: Relevant Qualifications in Economics or equivalent, with suitable experience working with Local Government. Demonstrated skills, experience and capacity in analysis and interpretation of relevant State and Federal Government policies and their impact on Fairfield City, as well as in devising locally appropriate interventions/responses to these policies.
Demonstrated skills, experience and capacity to manage and complete a range of projects on time and on budget. Demonstrated skills, experience and capacity in research and analysis, evaluating information from a variety of sources, creative thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic thinking and anticipation of potential threats or opportunities, policy development, planning, process improvement and quality control with a strong focus on strategic outcomes.
Highly developed understanding of or demonstrated experience in collaborating with a Place Management and Place
Making model particularly in regard to place-based planning, place activation, place marketing/promotion and centre retail/commercial auditing. Demonstrated skills and experience in proactively identifying and integrating Economic Development objectives into the varied strategic and operational work across Council and providing an Economic Development advisory role to Council staff. Highly developed communication skills including written and verbal English, presentation and public speaking skills, communicating with influence, and in “translating” complex economic and planning concepts into accessible, everyday language.
Highly developed interpersonal skills in teamwork and partnership development which build effective networks for Fairfield City. Demonstrated high level of political acumen. DESIRABLE: Ability to advocate for the economic needs of Fairfield City at a regional level.
Experience working within the priority industries listed above Experience in delivering 24-hour economy or tourism outcomes SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight This position is a Grade 8, salary range is $107,405 p.a. with progression to $118,555 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $125,812 p.a.
