Education Assistant - Special Needs

Position Details:

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and empathetic Education Assistant - Special Needs to join our Year 7 team at John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS). This is a fixed term, 1.0 FTE position for Terms 2, 3 and 4. Our Year 7 students are offered a Transition Program to Secondary schooling where they have a teacher with whom they spend most of their day whilst gaining a taste of the Secondary environment by attending specialist classes. We value a team player who is enthusiastic about collaborating with our dynamic Year 7 team to ensure the holistic development and success of our students. 

The successful candidate must:

• Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of The Anglican Schools Commission and John Wollaston Anglican Community School (the School). 
• Actively support a child safe culture.
• Have an understanding of various Special Needs conditions, learning disabilities and behavioural challenges, as well as familiarity with strategies and interventions to support students' academic, social and emotional development.
• Demonstrate collaboration skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, other support staff and parents/guardians to meet the diverse needs of students with Special Needs. 
• Demonstrate strong organisational skills as well as effective time management skills. 

Essential Requirements:

• A Certificate IV in School Based Education Support or equivalent.
• A current National Police Clearance.
• Hold a current Working with Children Card.
