Education Assistants (Special Needs) - Junior School - Two Positions Available

Part-time, fixed term positions, from Term 2 2024

Corpus Christi College is a co-educational K-12 Catholic college in the southern suburb of Bateman.  

The College is seeking applications from committed and dynamic Education Assistants interested in assisting students with Special Needs.

These part-time, fixed term roles are an integral part of our K-12 Inclusive Learning philosophy. Reporting to the Head of Junior School, appointees will be based in the Junior School. The terms of these positions are:

• Term 2 2024, Thursday and Friday.

• 29 April 2024 to 4 July 2025, Monday and Wednesday.

Under teacher direction, the Education Assistant (Special Needs) can be expected to perform tasks within the following range: 

• assists the teacher in the delivery and evaluation of planned education programs, including the operation of computers; and, under teacher direction, implements individual or small group programs or demonstrations. 

• assists the teacher with the care and supervision of students in out-of-class activities and on school excursions. 

• assists the teacher with the general care and well-being of student(s) in their care, including attending to students with minor issues e.g. basic first aid. 

• assists with arrival and departure of the student(s) in their care. 

• assists students undressing, bathing, dressing, toileting and, where necessary, cleans soiled clothing and areas. 

• assists with student education by having an understanding of health and physical disabilities of the student(s) in their care. 

• assist with the reporting of student progress during IEPs. 

• other duties as required by Principal or delegate.

Qualifications required:  

• A relevant Certificate III or IV in Special Needs Education 

• Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (or willingness to work towards attainment)  

• Current Working with Children Check
