About the Role:
The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board's Education Program inspires and empowers young people to learn about, connect with, and actively manage our natural resources. The Education Officer (Regional) works within a small passionate team to coordinate the River Murray Youth Councils, improve engagement with high schools, develop education resources, run education sessions and events, support teacher professional development, and connect young people with a range of exciting and meaningful opportunities. The role works across the entire Murraylands and Riverland region and focusses on working with youth and high schools.
Key Role Outcomes
- Two River Murray Youth Council groups are effectively coordinated and engaged in a range of projects and activities.
- The Education Program's engagement with high schools is developed and improved.
- Work with other staff and partners to effectively support the Education Program's delivery across the region.
- The Education Program is delivered on time, to budget and to a high quality.
- Awareness of the Education Program is increased through the development of media and communication materials.
- Education resources, communication products, and programs are developed which are engaging and meet the interests of school communities and other stakeholders.
- A team culture is supported and opportunities for continuously improving service delivery are initiated through collaborative and cooperative working arrangements.
About the Region
The Murraylands & Riverland region covers approximately 53,780 square kilometres from the Victorian and New South Wales borders to the western Mallee at the foot of the Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges.
The region forms the south-western portion of the Murray-Darling catchment into which the River Murray flows. The River Murray supplies the majority of the water needs for the city of Adelaide and surrounding towns. Much of the land is used for primary production, including pastoral lands, dryland cropping, grazing, horticulture, irrigation and dairy farming. There are also ecosystems that are of state, national and international significance, including the Ramsar-listed Chowilla Floodplain, the Coorong and Lower Lakes. The natural resources of the region also support tourism, recreation and manufacturing.
The Traditional Owner groups include Ngarrindjeri, the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee Region, Peramangk, Ngadjuri, and Wilyakali.

Contract:
Contract for up to 12 months.
Essential Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Education or related area is desirable.
Remuneration:
CLASSIFICATION ASO4 $75,430 min - $79,070 max p.a.
