Be part of a proud community and work with local youth.About Berry Street SchoolThe Berry Street School is a specialist independent secondary school with four campuses located in Shepparton, Morwell, Narre Warren and Ballarat. We offer an adaptation of the Victorian Curriculum for years 7–10, and the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) for years 11–12.Our School exists to provide high-quality education to young people with a history of adverse childhood experiences who are at risk of disengaging from their education. Our students may have significant gaps in academic achievement and have found it difficult to learn in a group setting, presenting with complex behaviours in school settings.Your OpportunityThe Shepparton Campus has an opportunity for a passionate Education Support Worker to build relationships and develop skills with young people through our trauma informed approach.The Education Support Worker will support classroom teachers and wellbeing staff members by assisting the implementations of the Berry Street Education Model.You will have a focus on students learning and transition into the program as well as tracking the development of students social and emotional goals.The role will be working 1:1 and in small groups with young people.Information about the Berry Street School Child safety and Wellbeing Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct can be accessed at https://www.berrystreetschool.vic.edu.au/about-us/publications-and-policies/policiesAbout YouTo be successful in the role you will hold a minimum qualification in Education Support (Cert 3 and above) or a Diploma level qualification in Youth Work/ Social Work or Community Services equivalent and an understanding of the Education system.You will be passionate about encouraging and supporting disengaged students and those with learning difficulties to reignite their love of learning.A personal love of painting and drawing would be highly valued but not essential.You will have a demonstrated ability and experience in the effective engagement of young people with complex needs and strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.Berry StreetJoin our team!
