The East Melbourne Childcare Co-operative is a community based, not for profit service, with over 25 years' experience providing high quality education and care over two Centre's in easily accessible, East Melbourne.
We have an exciting opportunity at Yarra Park Children's Centre for a passionate and committed Diploma or Degree qualified Early Childhood Educator, in the position of Educational leader.
The position is Part Time 2 days per week. If you are looking for full time or more hours please get in contact as there may be flexibility.
At EMCC the role of the Educational Leader is to support improved educational outcomes for children. This is done by focusing on two main areas of practice;
- The practice of teaching
- Outcomes of learning.
The Education Leader is directly responsible for supporting and teaching educators and plays a vital role within the Centre Leadership Team.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas;
Relationships
Create an empowering environment where all Educators feel supported and inspired to make valuable contributions to the program, where Educators collaborate and become a 'teaching team'.
Professional Support
Provide ongoing support within learning environments. Role model high quality interactions. Provide challenging reflection among team members, as well as constructive feedback to improve current practices.
Educational capability
Provide clear direction to all Educators within the curriculum and program planning, complying with all legislative requirements and the Australian Code of Ethics. Ensure programs are well planned working collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure fundamental role objectives are met, and or exceeded to a high quality standard.
Mentoring
Provide an approachable culture where Educators can discuss current challenges. Encourage the Teaching Team to enhance their pedagogical knowledge, promoting self-reflection, and development, while providing ongoing reflection and feedback.
Other skills and requirements
You will need to provide relevant children services qualifications (diploma or degree), WWC or VIT and a current police check.
You will need to have previous experience in working in an early childhood setting (four years' experience minimum, unless otherwise discussed).
Knowledge of Qikkids would be helpful along with experience working in a management role.
We require you to have an extensive understanding of the VEYLDF, National Legislative Framework, the National Quality Standard, Code of Ethics and the Child Safe Standards as a starting point.
