THE ROLEWe are seeking to fill the role of
Assistant DirectorCapital Works on both an ongoing and non-ongoing basis to June 2025.This role will work with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction and be responsible for elements of:
- Development, delivery, managing risk and reporting on project and contract management activity as determined by NLA built infrastructure plans including the Parkes Building Master Plan, Collection Storage Master Plan, Heritage Strategy, Conservation Management Plan, and Strategic Asset Management Plan.
- Management of all aspects of allocated major and minor building works, office fit out and refurbishment, and/or safety and compliance projects – plans, budget and resource usage, design, procurement, contract and contractor management, risk management and reporting, project performance and reporting.
- Procurement and contract management arrangements for relocations, leasing and/or facilities management services (including café and catering, cleaning, utilities, mechanical engineering, security services).
The role has people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities. It is required to develop, manage and maintain a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships and internal and external networks.The role ensures Library compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements – procurement and contract management, building code environment and heritage management obligations.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORTo be considered for this exciting role you will require expertise and credentials in:
- Development and management of major and/or minor building works projects in a heritage context.
- Commonwealth procurement and contract management requirements.
You must have project management, infrastructure and/or trade qualifications and a minimum of five years’ experience in managing commercial construction and/or complex base building services, storage and/or office fit out and refurbishment projects.It is highly desirable that you have experience working in a heritage building environment.
