Our client is an important government department who contribute significantly to the health and wellbeing of the nation. This organisation is a well-regarded Commonwealth Department and focus largely on key social and ceremonial policy issues.
The Opportunity
This role is being offered as a long-term contract opportunity. You will work closely with the executive to discuss financial performance and discuss strategies to support the outcomes that need to be delivered.
The key to your success in the role is your ability to proactively engage with your internal stakeholders and provide strong insights/analysis.
The RoleKey responsibilities:
- Partnering with business areas to strategically plan operations, resources and staffing
- Providing strategic and operational financial reporting to facilitate stakeholder decision making and effective resource management
- Developing, monitoring, analysing and advising on budgets, financial results and business plans and help to deliver performance and financial information to internal and external stakeholders
- Undertaking analysis and evaluation of trends, cost drivers and identification of budget issues in support of high level analysis
- Research and analyse financial management issues and provide advice based on results/evidence
- Providing strategic, insightful financial reporting to the Executive and the Minister that identifies pressures, risks and opportunities and supports decision making
- Working across the team to manage the monthly reporting requirements and drive enhancements to reporting
The Ideal Person
Working closely with key Divisional stakeholders, this opportunity requires a highly capable, people focused accountant who can quickly build rapport with the two divisions you will support, understand their unique challenges faced, and work closely with them to best manage and plan their funding.
You will require:
- Strong Excel skills
- Accounting qualifications (CA/CPA desirable)
- Strong written and analytical capabilities
- Demonstrated experience using problem solving and influencing skills to resolve accounting issues

Salary /Rate$115k – $130k + Super
