The Opportunity
As the EL1 Human Resource Business Partner, you'll hold a key position within the People Services team. Serving as the primary point of contact for managers and senior leaders across the institute, you'll provide invaluable support and guidance.
Operating as the HR Business Partner you will enjoy the flexibility to provide invaluable advice and support across various HR domains. While the role encompasses generalist responsibilities, it places particular emphasis on critical areas such as HR strategy development and performance management. For proactive, driven HR professionals keen on broadening their expertise, particularly within the APS realm, this role promises abundant variety and stimulating challenges.

The Role
As the Human Resource Business Partner, you will be responsible for but not limited to
- Delivering HR Business Partner services to managers, Executive Directors, Deputy CEO/COO, and the Chief Executive Officer, ensuring tailored support at every level of leadership
- Work in the role of Chief People Officer during periods of leave or special projects
- Support managers in people management matters including advice on effective performance management and workforce strategies for business areas
- Undertake research and provide guidance on HR strategic operations to ensure currency and alignment to the department and APS strategic goals and plans
- Contribute to HR plans and undertake HR projects.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated proficiency in providing comprehensive support to leaders across the employment cycle. This includes expertise in areas such as people management, organisational design, workforce planning, workplace change, performance management, employee relations, and policy advice.
You will have demonstrated experience in a generalist HR Business Partnering role, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain relationships with senior leaders, government agencies, and union representatives.
Being highly organised and capable of multitasking across diverse HR functions is key, along with a proactive attitude and the ability to provide professional and technical HR advice. Tailoring communication to various audiences while considering individual and organisational needs is paramount. A friendly, approachable demeanour, adept negotiation skills, and the ability to articulate legislation and policy in plain language are also important attributes for success in this role.
Salary / Rate
- $100k - $109k + Super
- 6 - 12 month non-ongoing
