An exciting opportunity exists at the Director level for a person deeply interested in International Economics and Security issues to join the International Economics and Security Division (IESD) within Treasury. IESD shapes policy at the intersection of Economics and Security to reflect Australia's national interest in promoting domestic and international prosperity and Security.
The Pacific Unit supports whole-of-government effort in the Pacific by providing analysis and policy advice, engaging with international economic institutions and working across government to progress Australia's national interest. The successful applicant will be required to have strong analytical and policy skills. Experience and knowledge working on Pacific issues would also be advantageous.
The successful applicant will be required to have:
- Strategic policy leadership on international economic, security and development engagement in the Indo-Pacific.
- Excellent analytical, framework and critical thinking skills.
- Strong leadership skills - both in managing high performing teams and in contributing strongly to the Division's broader leadership and culture.
- Excellent people skills, including being a positive team player and developing and fostering networks and strong working relationships across government and internally.
- Representing Treasury at a variety of fora and having advanced communicating with influence skills to communicate effectively with high-level stakeholders including the Treasurer's office, members of the Executive, numerous areas within Treasury and other government agencies.
Candidates are required to have strong security awareness. A current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance is preferred, however applicants will also be considered on the basis that the applicant agrees to commence NV1 clearance immediately.
Academic qualifications in economics or studies in international relations, law and politics are desirable.
