Global Power Energy (GPE) is seeking Electrical Engineers to join our Engineering team based in Brisbane. As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical assistance, engineering design and studies outcomes in order to facilitate the provision of GPE’s advisory services.
We are a rapidly expanding energy advisory that provides end-to-end specialist services to some of the largest players in the Australian energy industry on projects including large pumped hydro, major solar, wind, BESS and hybrid projects, and network infrastructure in Renewable Energy Zones.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete engineering design or analysis on solar, wind, battery and synchronous generation systems, including electrical system design, harmonic studies or power and protection system studies
- Participate in the grid connection process by engaging with clients, Network Service Providers, AEMO and other stakeholders as necessary
- Manage power system studies for generator system compliance, or network studies for MLFs, constraints or capacity. Use of PowerWorld, PSCAD, PSS/E or similar systems is advantageous
- Develop and manage commissioning plans
- Provide strategic engineering advice on the best way to connect systems when considering technical, commercial and regulatory factors
- Author client-facing documents and engage with/be the technical point of contact for clients
- Work with other engineers and team members within GPE to deliver outstanding service and advice to help our clients succeed
- Assist with proposals and project bidding including defining scope, methodology, preparing cost estimates, schedules and documenting assumptions/exclusions

SALARY
$80k-140k per annum, excluding superannuation, depending on experience
REQUIRED
- Power system engineering skills
- Experience working on utility-focused power systems engineering projects or product design
- Knowledge of the Australian energy market regulations and interaction with Network Service Providers and AEMO
- Knowledge of electric utility substation and electrical distribution system design
- Knowledge of utility protection and control engineering design principles
- Team player with the ability to work with within a fast-paced team to deliver client value
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel periodically, sometimes at short notice
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (majoring in Electrical Engineering or similar) – must be an accredited or equivalent qualification under the Washington Accord, to enable RPEQ registration
DESIRED
- Operation of power system software, such as PSS/E, PSCAD and/or PowerWorld
- Knowledge of generating system design
- Management of the grid connection process within Australia
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation from Engineers Australia
