About the Role
This role involves providing discipline-specific technical input in all facets of projects from the initial client inquiry through to the completion of the project, including co-ordination with other disciplines, liaison with clients, associated consultants, local authorities, statutory bodies, production of design deliverables, site inspections, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Become thoroughly familiar with building codes, standards and legislative requirement and delivery of successful technical solutions to staff, managers, and clients ensuring that robust and efficient technical solutions can be supported.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for project works using standard drafting procedures, practices and undertake basic structural designs, and drafting using computer-aided design equipment and software.
- Provide timely and accurate expertise and advice on matters relating to engineering elements of relevant standards and acts and provide best value solutions to the team.
- Undertake project phases, ensuring understanding of assignments including special requirements and schedule for completion while ensuring projects are delivered on time, are of high quality, and within budget.
- Liaise with engineers, project teams, authorities, and clients (where applicable) and assist in maintaining client relationships while ensuring that attendance at weekly resource meetings, and regular feedback/project status updates are given to Project Leaders.
- Prepare project reporting and ensure projects meet agreed timelines and fees/budgets and input into project reports is satisfactorily completed within timelines set.
- Co-ordinate with sub-consultants and integrate them with work as required by the team or Project Leader. Ensure that the team or Project Leader is kept informed of any progress or when sub-consultants’ information is not being provided in a timely manner.
- Provide project updates to inform client of project status to ensure positive client feedback and repeat business.
- Preparation of reports using agreed templates for review prior to issue to client.
Skills & Experience
- Proven industry experience of 3-7 years in the various aspects of Electrical Engineering design with emphasis on successful delivery of discipline projects, including identifying project risks, problem solving, communicating issues, and delivering solutions.
- Knowledge and understanding of and ability to apply sustainable and cost-effective principles and solutions.
- Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or a closely related discipline is required as well as industry experience.
- Strong data analysis, interpretation, and data presentation skills.
- Ability to manage own time and priorities and to assist the rest of the team to meet project objectives in a deadline driven work environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of documentation and current issues related to own and other disciplines, including external sub-consultants.
- Ability to work both within a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- Current Drivers Licence
- Membership (or eligibility to be Member) of a relevant national or international accreditation body.
- Registration (or eligibility to be registered) in relevant state’s professional engineer register for the building/construction industry (if required).
