Project/Scope
Samsung C&T and Genus Industrial Services have formed a Joint Venture to deliver the Balance of Plant for the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub Project. MREH is a large Battery Energy Storage System.
The scope of work for this project is to design and construct the first stage of the project including, all design and engineering, civil and electrical works to deliver this battery storage project.
The Role
Genus Industrial is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join the team at our Melton Renewable Energy Hub project located in Melbourne.

The successful candidate will have a collaborative and engaging approach, work well with both the field and management teams and be focused on exceeding expectations and reaching project goals and objectives safely.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Electrical Site Manager, the Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for the preparation, management, and monitoring of the engineering aspects of the project. You will be part of the JV EPC team and assist the electrical site manager to oversee the electrical contractor to deliver the works.
The Electrical Project Engineer’s responsibilities will include:
- Effectively conducting site inspections, where required, to ensure the design meets project objectives.
- Liaising with both internal and other stakeholders regarding engineering related matters and ensuring that any technical difficulties are articulated and resolved promptly.
- Identifying changes, design and/or constructability issues, and liaise with site management in providing logical solutions.
- Assisting in completing Construction Verification, Turnover / Handover Packages including sign-offs, including setting and maintaining design issue milestones and standards.
- Assisting the Project Team with the coordination of all works, allocation of resources, fee negotiations and compliance to contract milestones.
- Ensure the electrical contractor meets the technical requirements of the contract.
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification - Bachelor (Minimum)
- 5+ years experience in an onsite Electrical Project Engineering role.
- 3+ years industry experience
- High Voltage Electrical Experience
- Experience within the construction, utilities, or resource industry.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, drawings and documentation.
- OHS Construction Induction Card.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- National police clearance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Established communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level IT knowledge, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Well organised with strong time management skills.
- High regard for safety and safe work practices.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently using own initiative and within a cohesive team environment.
