COVA is a privately owned EPC contractor specialising in Bulk Materials Handling and Organic Waste Treatment Facilities. We're on the lookout for skilled engineers to work on exciting projects in bulk material handling and organics processing and large conveyor storage.
The position could be based in either Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical) to join our Project Delivery team based in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth. This team is tasked with delivery of projects from pre-works (including procurement and fabrication) through to commissioning and handover.
The role will be responsible for all scope, battery limits and interfaces during the procurement, construction and projects commissioning phases. The role plays a key part in the quality control of fabrication and installation activities. The Project Engineer (Electrical) also manages the commissioning phase.
You'll also possess – and be able to demonstrate - these specific skills:
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the project is completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Participate in design reviews with the Design team providing constructability input.
- Technical management of all sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Work with and guide the Site Engineer in undertaking quality inspections.
- Work closely with COVA Construction Supervisors and all construction sub-contractors to ensure works are completed to the defined quality specifications.
- Ensure quality assurance and control processes are implemented onsite. Develop ITPs in consultation with Technical Leads.
- Prepare Scope of Works documentation for installation and supply sub-contracts.
- Undertake technical evaluation of sub-contractor and supplier tenders, quotations and proposals.
- Identifying unforeseen technical issues and costs and reporting them to the Project Manager and Design Manager.
- Support Project Control teams with monthly sub-contractor and supplier payment claim reviews.
- Work with the Construction Manager and project manager to execute all construction activities.
- Implement risk management principles and activities appropriate to the project across all discipline.
- Ensure the project’s quality management plan is fit for purpose and correctly administered.
- Undertake and lead the Commissioning of the project.
Skills and experience
It's likely your background will include:
- 5+ years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
- Good understanding of Inspection process and Inspection record managements
- Strong understanding of schedule management, deadlines and budget controls
- Experience on Design & Construction projects
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Relevant Engineering degree
- Experience with Project Management software such as Procore or Aconex is desirable
- Ability to travel intra and interstate to undertake regular site visits
- Ability to be on site full time during commissioning activities
