- Fortescue's Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
As an Electrical Technical Officer, you'll be instrumental in overseeing the intricate maintenance, installation, and enhancement of instrumentation and electrical systems. Your role involves providing technical guidance during breakdowns, documenting improvements, adapting maintenance strategies, and managing small-scale projects. Reporting directly to the Electrical Coordinator, your collaboration with key stakeholders will drive the facility's safety, efficiency, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a diverse team of trade personnel and supervisors, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Develop, execute, and spearhead training programs for our onsite electrical teams, utilising both internal and external resources.
- Provide crucial on-call breakdown support, ensuring operational continuity through the OPF and Train Loadout.
- Collaborate closely with the electrical engineering team for projects and diagnostic interventions.
- Strategize on production efficiency, identifying measures to prevent downtime and enhance overall operational throughput.
- Drive adherence to safety principles and fulfill all regulatory obligations.
- Cultivate a robust safety culture and implement work systems within the team.
- Coordinate the maintenance of critical power, communication, monitoring, and control systems.
- Elevate maintenance strategies and crucial documentation to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Current WA 'A' class electrical workers licence.
- High voltage switching certificate.
- Certificate IV in instrumentation (desired).
- Minimum 3 years' experience as electrical tradesperson or Electrical / Instrumentation Technician in a continuous operating plant environment.
- Proven experience in PLC systems and control communication systems.
- Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems and high-voltage equipment.
- Proficient in the use of computer maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to make decisions and cover high-level responsibilities during off-hours and weekends.
