About the role
Forming part of the Outbye Department Compliance Team, the primary purpose of the Emergency Response Coordinator is to manage and coordinate site Emergency Response requirements including undertaking inspections, facilitating resources, implementing processes to ensure compliance and capability for both surface and underground operations. The role will also include development and delivery of Emergency Response exercises.
Key Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Inspect and maintain site Emergency Response resources (fire, escape capabilities and first aid) to ensure an effective preparedness and response capability is in place
- Assist with maintaining and monitoring site Emergency Response procedures, response plans, manuals, and protocols
- Assist, develop and deliver Emergency Response scenarios in line with Recognise Standard 8 – Conduct of mine emergency exercises
- Maintain compliance to site training plans to ensure emergency preparedness effectiveness, including audit and verification of associated training requirements
- Deliver risk analysis, evaluation and inspections/audit processes, as required, to ensure continuous improvement of the site’s Emergency Response capabilities

Got what it takes?
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills:
- Previous experience in an underground coal mining environment and general working knowledge of the Coal Mining Industry
- Previous involvement in Emergency Response management and understanding of Work Health & Safety requirements within the workplace
- Proven ability to effectively work within a team environment
- Experience in identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement
- Exceptional attention to detail and the initiative to follow up on results to ensure accuracy and timeliness of work
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and effectively time manage
- Advanced record keeping skills including minute taking and document storage and retrieval
- Excellent interpersonal, cooperative and facilitation skills as part of interfacing with various levels of management and external bodies and agencies
- Ability to work in high pressure and competing priority and ambiguous environments for sustained periods

You will also have a Queensland First, Second or Third-class Certificate of Competency or a Queensland Mutual Recognition is required. Or if you are willing to work towards achieving mutual recognition of competency from NSW to QLD. You will be able to think laterally, have strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
