We bring to life see a Brighter Way in all that we do by seeking better, smarter, more innovative ways of working. We approach our work in a warmer, more optimistic, and inclusive way.

What this opportunity involves:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for you to join our Energy & Sustainable Operations team as our next Energy Analyst. This is for an exciting account – a well-established brand name with a national portfolio of properties.

You will play a key role in supporting the energy portfolio. Your main focus is to understand and monitor the performance of energy (including water) across the portfolio (more than 1,000 sites) by analysing data, providing insights and recommendations to optimise energy and water consumption, reduce costs, and drive sustainability goals.

This role is a hybrid role – working 2 days from home and 3 days in the office. You will initially be based in Melbourne CBD and will eventually move to inner CBD with both tram and train accessibility.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Utility Connections and Analysis:
    • Monitor changes in utility rates, tariffs, and regulations to assess their impact on costs and operations.
    • Troubleshoot issues around energy and water billing
    • Conduct rate analysis to identify potential cost-savings.
    • Contribute to the development and management of utility budgets, forecasts and accruals.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of utility rate structures, incentives, and rebate programs, and provide recommendations for participation.
    • Manage connections and disconnection of utility services across a large property portfolio.
  • Data Analysis
    • Analyse, and validate utility data, including energy and water bills, consumption patterns, and rates, in conjunction with third party assurance providers.
    • Identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement in utility consumption and costs.
    • Conduct benchmarking analysis to compare energy consumption and costs against established standards and best practices.
  • Energy Conservation and Efficiency:
    • Identify energy-saving opportunities and make recommendations to optimise energy consumption across facilities.
    • Collaborate with the operations team and other relevant stakeholders to understand drivers behind utility usage.
  • Sustainability Reporting:
    • Work collaboratively across a team in gathering and compile data for sustainability reporting, including consumption and variance reporting for budgeting purposes, highlighting energy/water savings.
    • Analyse and interpret sustainability metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and goal achievement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including property managers, facility managers, and finance teams, to ensure accurate utility data collection and reporting.
    • Communicate with utility representatives, and other stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies, address utility-related issues, and stay informed about industry trends and changes.
