About this role:
The Engagement Officer - Volunteer Visitor Program is part of our friendly and growth-centred Volunteer Relations team. Working under the direction of the Team Leader - Volunteer Visitor Program, you will bring a commitment to making our community a great place for older people, where they enjoy opportunities to interact, actively participate, and stay socially connected. You will take responsibility for attracting, selecting, onboarding, and supporting volunteers who share our vision that meaningful friendship can change the lives of those who may otherwise experience social isolation and loneliness.
Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is a not-for-profit community service provider funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) to deliver the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), and in accordance with our partnership agreement, the role is a fixed-term, full-time position until 30th June 2026.
The role includes:
Matching the interests and expectations of care recipients to suitable Volunteer Visitors, ensuring appropriate ongoing support so that a positive visiting relationship can be maintained.
Informing and inspiring key aged care staff to embrace the goals of the Volunteer Visitor program and its value for care recipients, seeking referrals for eligible older people who may potentially benefit from ongoing social friendship.
Raising awareness of the Volunteer Visitor program, growing the number of matches, and reporting on its success as outlined in the WMQ and Department partnership agreement.
Creating and strengthening connections with key stakeholders and Aged Care service providers to enhance the reach and delivery of WMQ's Volunteer Visitor program.
Providing additional recreational and activity volunteering support across WMQ Aged Care services as required.

A compassionate and customer-focused professional skilled at time management, goal-setting and accurate data reporting, you have exacting standards and respect for working within workplace policies and procedures and Federal Government guidelines. Capable of inspiring others to get involved, you are comfortable communicating with people from different age groups, backgrounds, and circumstances.
Your qualifications, abilities and experience may include the following in order to be considered for the role:
A relevant qualification in human resource management, administration, aged care, community services, events management, marketing, customer care, or related fields.
Experience coordinating volunteers or understanding the complexities of coordinating a volunteer team.
Well-developed computer skills, including the MS Office suite and related applications packages.
Ability to use communication and recruitment-related systems, including CRM or HCM systems, online survey tools, social media, and recruitment websites.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with older people with a range of conditions and capacities via a combination of face-to-face, telephone, and virtual methods.
Sensitivity working alongside people of diverse cultures or people with specific needs and complex vulnerabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and cooperatively as part of an effective team with a positive can-do attitude.
Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.
Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
Relevant probity checks are required by legislation and WMQ policy.
