In the role of Engineer (Civil), with supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff, you will project manage the delivery of road infrastructure projects through the administration of contracts and provision of technical expertise and support to the planning, design, construction and maintenance processes. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management and process development.
Some of your responsibilities will include:• Assist in the selection of the most suitable contract process for project delivery, then administer Road Construction and/or Maintenance Contracts and works to ensure compliance and successful delivery to Transport & Main Roads specifications• Identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations where necessary to achieve acceptance.• Determine appropriate bridge and road maintenance procedures, work instructions and manage road and bridge maintenance tasks.• Calculate quantities of component materials, analyse test results for materials, identify non-conformances, determine the controls needed during construction, and conduct and manage risk assessment.• Manage under supervision, projects or elements of projects and provide monthly financial forecasting.• Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.• Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to; and• Maintain effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders.• Acts in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. Models ethical behaviour and consistently applies those ethical standards to self and others.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions• Must be eligible to work in Australia• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by the Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.• Current holder of a Class C driver's licence.
Desirable requirements:• Knowledge of TMR's technical specifications and contract procedures (or similar) would be highly regarded.
