In the role of Engineer (Civil) you will, with supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff, project manage the planning, performance, design and operation of road infrastructure through the administration of contracts and provision of technical expertise and support to the planning, design, maintenance and operation processes. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key activities and resources associated with project management and process development.

- Analyse and provide advice on the use and performance of the transport network using contemporary data preparation and analysis tools and techniques.
- Ensure the integrity and completeness of road asset data records and compliance with departmental policies, processes and practices in relation to road asset information management.
- Undertake engineering activities to support the safe and efficient operation of the transport network such as fatal crash investigations, heavy vehicle permits, and speed reviews.
- Manage under supervision, projects or elements of projects which support the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
- Assist in the selection of the most suitable contract process for project delivery, then administer the contract to ensure compliance and successful delivery.
- Identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations to the design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance.
- Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to.
- Maintain effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
