As the Group Engineering Application Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operation, support, administration, and development of all Group Engineering Applications. Central to the role will be the ownership of the Data Management Strategy, and the development of a Common Data Environment. Additionally, you will drive improvements that lead to increased productivity, reduced costs, and improved team satisfaction across the business.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the support and administration of all Group Engineering Applications (including, but not limited to, Aveva Pi Historian, MOC, Cylance, Sharepoint)
- Manage and appropriately escalate risks, issues and changes associated to all Group Engineering Applications
- Be responsible for overseeing, managing and optimising the overall technical architecture of all Group Engineering Applications, including the environments, databases and interfaces with other systems
- Coordinate and implement systems configuration changes and continue the upgrades/fixes to Group Engineering Applications.
- Manage and execute on change requests by ensuring quality of analysis of the business problem, seeking the most cost-effective solutions and providing timely updates to stakeholders.
- Own documentation of configuration, training guides, requirements, solutions and knowledge articles relevant to support front end business processes.
- Provide expertise on Group Engineering Applications for designated projects.
- Support the security maturity of all Group Engineering Applications.
- Ensure currency of security by completing user reviews, maintenance, upgrades and updates as per industry recommendations.
- Ensure that disaster recovery strategies are in place and maintained and tested at recommended intervals.
- Respond to any cyber security threats with the appropriate level of urgency and ensure solutions implemented meet cyber and quality control requirements.
- Manage the end-to-end life cycle of vendor engagement for all Group Engineering Applications, including the request and review of statements of work or work orders, creation and management of associated purchase orders (PO), review of vendor invoices and timesheets; management of queries as they arise; and acknowledgement of goods or services by PO receipts to facilitate timely invoice payment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- 3 to 5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
Desirable
- Experience with Aveva PI platform
- Experience with Teambinder
- Experience with MS PowerApps
- Experience with SharePoint
- Experience with Blackberry Cylance
- Experience with Passwordstate
- System administration and IT certifications in Microsoft, or other network related fields
- Working knowledge of virtualization, Azure, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of API's and being able to work with third-party APIs to enhance software features and connectivity.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
- Strong knowledge of Python
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT/OT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols

- An ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of people across the organisation and build positive work relationships.
- Extensive experience in providing application support to operations either at site or remotely.
- Ability to resolve problems with analytical thinking.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, changeable environment, including management of conflicting priorities in high pressure situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated initiative, motivation and high personal work standards to achieve Company and team objectives.
- Willingness to work flexibly, to undertake interstate and overseas trips as necessary and to work out of hours as and when reasonably required.
