Engineering Manager - Australian Institute For Machine Learning

(HEO8) $106,561 - $119,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Full Time | 36 Month Fixed Term Position

The State Government of South Australia and the University of Adelaide have co-invested in an Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) to upskill South Australian workers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application to the workplace; build new AI-enabled defence capabilities; support cost-effective adoption of Artificial Intelligence by South Australian government agencies; and directly support local South Australian businesses to develop new products based on Artificial Intelligence.

AIML are seeking an experienced manager to support the day-to-day activities of AIMLs growing Industry Solutions Team. This role will suit someone with a working knowledge of agile methodologies; AI engineering and have exceptional communication skills to articulate project goals and priorities to internal and external stakeholders.

The AIML Industry Solutions team currently comprises of eight expert Machine Learning engineers who work in an agile environment to develop new Machine Learning algorithms, produce production code, analyse data, and deliver Machine Learning systems for industry partners. 

To be successful you will need:

• Proficient in project/product management at a high level.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and best practices, with the ability to tailor approaches to suit team dynamics and project requirements.
• Proficiency in sprint planning, execution, and retrospective activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Experience in identifying and addressing risks and obstacles to project advancement, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.
• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to articulate project goals, priorities, and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
• Capacity to adapt to changing project demands and priorities, maintaining focus on delivering value to the customer while managing competing interests effectively.
• A growth mindset, proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and new tasks.
• Skilled in fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting transparency, accountability, and innovation.
