Our projects within the Defence environment are increasing and are focused on rapid acquisition and sustainment of tactical systems. This is a key role that supports Australia’s sovereign capability.
This role involves data analysis, providing expert advice, establishing data management plans, configuration management tools and supporting inputs to capability.
This is a permanent role which is based in Canberra with flexible Working from Home and Office options.
Job Description:
You will be part of a project team that provides a range of specialist services including engineering, logistics and project management to assist Defence in the planning, acquisition, sustainment and disposal of Tactical Communication systems. This role is responsible for the following outcomes:
- Provide Engineering advice to the sustainment team across the Defence supported products.
- Provide timely, considered and appropriate advice when and where appropriate to support project outcomes.
- Maintain and review baselines of products, and maintain an up to date configuration baseline.
- Maintain material certification of sustainment products.
- Ensure sustainment products and safety posture is maintained and reviewed.
- Interface with logisticians and ICT security SMEs where required.
- Address and resolve routine upgrades, RODUMs and Urgent Defect Requests (URDEFs).
- Undertake and facilitate completion of Engineering Changes, including design reviews.
- Interface with below the line in-service support contractors and their engineering representatives.
- Raise and monitor variations where required.
What you bring:
- Relevant qualifications in Systems Engineering and Software Engineering
- Experience within a government or Defence environment
- An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle
- Experience in a similar role
- Experience in building trusted and valued relationships with project team members
- Process driven and attention to detail are necessary
- Effective problem solving and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Minimum requirements:
- Must have experience in the Australian Defence Industry or Australian Defence Force
- A current or expired security clearance is essential (minimum NV1)
