PART-TIME CONTRACT (FOUR DAYS PER WEEK, ENDS DEC 31 2024)
Pedestrian Group is on the hunt for an entertainment writer to join our team. This position will be responsible for brainstorming, producing and optimising branded content for a streaming vertical across our award-winning websites including: PEDESTRIAN.TV, VICE Australia, Refinery29 Australia, and Lifehacker Australia. The successful candidate will also produce spicy organic entertainment content for PEDESTRIAN.TV.
The ideal candidate will be a chronic TV binger and a movie obsessive. They will love pop culture and be plugged into everything entertainment – from reality TV to local and international celebrity news. They should be confident in representing Pedestrian Group and providing coverage at industry events, and can confidently interview celebs both on and off camera.
The ideal candidate will be skilled at spinning stories into both written and social content and be confident in using image editing tools such as Photoshop and Canva.
Reporting directly to the Head of Editorial at PEDESTRIAN.TV, our dream candidate is a skilled writer who is creative, organised and able to balance client objectives with our publications’ integrity and varied tones of voice. They have a great sense of humour, are able to work independently, and are ready to hit the ground running in our fast-paced yet supportive and collaborative newsroom.
Qualifications
The Entertainment & Native Content Producer will be required to:
Produce Native Content about TV and movies on streaming platforms,across a wide range of genres including but not limited to comedy, horror, action, sci-fi, romance and drama.
Brainstorm editorial angles with our Partnerships team in response to a client’s brief on a daily basis
Work collaboratively with our Creative Projects team to deliver best-in-class Native Content while meeting client needs
Work collaboratively with our site editors to ensure all Native Content is reflective of the overall editorial strategy and its different audiences, as well as minimise content conflicts between organic and Native Content
Track the progress of native articles through calendar and tracker spreadsheets
Manage multiple campaigns concurrently
Can confidently pitch content and write entertainment content for an 18-34 audience, with a keen sense of what young Aussies care about
Has a unique tone of voice or point of view
Has experience in optimising stories for SEO
Has experience in social media optimisation
This position calls for someone with:
At least 4 years editorial experience, freelancing or otherwise
An appreciation for the importance of quality Native Content as a service to the reader
The ability to change your writing tone to suit different audiences across pillars including tech, culture, lifestyle and business
Excellent photo editing skills
Time management skills and experience working to tight deadlines
Strong writing skills
An understanding of G-Suite tools
Knowledge of best SEO practices, Yoast and varying CMS platforms such as Wordpress
The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
