ABOUT THE RLPAThe Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) is the representative body of elite rugby league players in Australia, protecting and promoting the welfare and interests of its members. RLPA members are those players contracted to play in the National Rugby League (NRL) competitions.OUR PURPOSEWe exist to protect and advance the interests of the Players and the Game. OUR VISIONA strong, connected, and growing game driven by empowered and successful players.THE ROLEThe Digital Content Producer will be responsible for producing content for the RLPA's digital channels, Past Player and Transition program, and partners.DUTIESContent ProductionLead the development and creation of Digital Content for:
  • RLPA-owned channels
  • RLPA Programs and Initiatives
  • Sponsors and partners
  • RLPA Players, Directors and Staff
Lead the production of Digital Content for the RLPA using:
  • Video
  • Photography
  • Design
  • Audio
Social Media Management & Strategy
  • Manage RLPA-owned social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Develop growth and partnership strategies for RLPA-owned social media channels.
  • Develop social media strategies to inform and engage RLPA members on RLPA-owned channels.
  • Digital content creation for RLPA-owned social media channels.
Website Management
  • Management and development of the RLPA website.
  • Digital content creation for the RLPA website.
Past Player and Transition Program
  • Lead the development and creation of digital and social media content for the RLPA’s Past Player & Transition Program.
  • Develop content strategies to engage past players.
  • Create Digital Content for RLPA Past Player & Transition Program events.
  • Newsletter development and management for the RLPA Past Player & Transition Program.
REMUNERATIONThe successful candidate will be remunerated commensurate with their skills and experience. Candidates are invited to indicate their current salary and expectations when they lodge their application.TERMThis is a full-time position. KEY ROLE OUTCOMES & CHALLENGES
  • Digital - Developing content for sustainable and respected digital platforms that share player stories and growing audiences to support the player and RLPA journey, providing audience support and empathy.
  • Education - Creating educational Digital Content that informs Members, industry, and fans of the RLPA’s members' rights and entitlements.
  • Promotion - Creating promotional Digital Content to engage a diverse past player base to access the benefits of the RLPA’s Past Player & Transition Program.
  • Strategy - Developing new social media strategies to grow the RLPA’s digital footprint and/or leading strategic or operational tasks.
  • Engagement - Engaging with a broad membership and past player base spread across different geographical locations.
  • Teamwork - Working with the RLPA's Player and Football Operations team to assist in managing and resolving issues and concerns and advocating for the Players’ interests.
  • Industry Relationships - Establishing relationships with the NRL and Club media and marketing departments and other key industry stakeholders to assist the RLPA in effectively influencing positive change within the industry and positioning the RLPA as a strong and reliable organisation.
  • Managing essential areas of the RLPA Media and Communications department, Past Player & Transition Program, and successful engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the RLPA Strategic and Business plans and working with the CEO and Executive team to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Having a solid understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the rights and entitlements of current and past players.
  • Overcoming various challenges in executing the RLPA Strategic Plan and achieving desired stakeholder outcomes, including problem-solving and conflict resolution effectively.
THE PERSONThe successful candidate will be a self-starter, positive, and enthusiastic and will need to demonstrate previous experience in Digital Content production using video and photography, as well as digital marketing using social media and newsletters. Significantly, you will demonstrate behaviours that align with the RLPA values – Professionalism, Courage, Fairness and Respect.You will have a proven track record of creating informative, entertaining content that is adaptable to current trends and changes in technology. This role also requires the ability always to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.You will be energetic and a volume producer of work. The ability to manage several tasks at once and prioritise demands is critical. The successful candidate will clearly understand the difference between urgent and important and be a team player with a proven ability to work within a small team environment.Post-secondary studies in communications, marketing, or media or any related qualifications will be favourably considered.Experience and understanding of the NRL would be an advantage but not essential. A passion for all sports and the interests of athletes will be highly regarded.The RLPA plays a unique and challenging role in the Rugby League industry on behalf of its members. Therefore, the candidate will have the suitable characteristics, attitude, and work ethic to develop a strong affinity for the RLPA's Vision, Mission, and Values and for the issues affecting its membership.SELECTION CRITERIAIn addition to experience relevant to the role responsibilities detailed in this Position Description, candidates will be assessed against a range of personal attributes and professional skills:ESSENTIAL
  • Strong and autonomous videography skills
  • Strong and autonomous photography skills
  • Extensive knowledge of production and post-production software (Adobe Suite etc.)
  • Considerable experience working in content, marketing and/or communications
  • Exceptional management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to prioritise work commitments and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • An understanding and ability to work with confidential and highly-sensitive information
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communications skills
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
  • Design skills (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator, Canva)
  • Experience in a previous role with relatable and transferable skills
  • Experience working in the NRL or another sporting industry
  • Existing relationships with RLPA Members and/or RLPA Stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience with website maintenance, social media activities, newsletter and database management
