Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Leading a dedicated team of environmental professionals, you'll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference and contributing to the success of our Yancoal Australia's mining operations.
Based on site at Moolarben Coal Operations and reporting to the General Manager of the Moolarben Coal Complex, you will lead a dynamic and motivated team. This diverse position is responsible for the environmental compliance of the Moolarben Coal Complex, Major and Subordinate Approvals, Land, Property, and Tenement Management, including over 7000 hectares of biodiversity offset areas. The role plays a critical part in the development and implementation of long-term strategic planning for the site.
- Demonstrate visible leadership in the workplace through leading by example, fostering WH&S awareness among staff, managing risk, and promoting continuous improvements in safety and culture across the business.
- Manage the environmental, approvals & community relations needs of the Moolarben Coal Complex.
- Ensure delivery of required mining and environmental approvals.
- Provide professional and technical advice in relation to effective management of environmental matters across the complex.
- Facilitate statutory notifications, reporting and environmental incident investigations.
- Play a lead role in the development and implementation of long-term strategic planning for the site.
- Coach, manage, and mentor a diverse team of Environment and Community professionals.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in either Risk, Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Applied Science or other suitable qualification.
- Extensive experience in Environmental Management roles and heavy industry / mining is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and the environmental aspects of mining.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead, engage, and influence large and diverse teams at multiple levels in the organisation.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
- Ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries at different organisational levels.
