About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Environment & Coast Lead you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering agreed environmental projects as per Council’s strategic and environmental plans. This will include, but is not limited to, a focus on initiatives related to waste management and climate change. You will also be responsible for community liaison and education related to environmental issues and sustainable living.
You will actively engage with members of the public and work with key stakeholders internally and within the community to positively and professionally promote our Council.
Some out of hours and weekend work will be required.
The right person will have skills and experience in the following:
- High level knowledge of environmental management issues in relation to waste management, sustainable living, and climate change
- Demonstrated experience working in an environmental management role
- Sound understanding of project management principles, and demonstrated experience in managing and delivering environmental projects
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation, guidelines, regulations and standards relevant to the area of operation
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office and corporate digital applications
- Experience working in local government and a broad understanding of local government and Council’s organisation structure, policies, functions, systems and activities
- Knowledge of adult and/or community education and behavioural change principles
- Experience in developing and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing environmental policies, strategies, and programs.
- Experience in developing, monitoring, and reporting against performance indicators and targets.
