ENVIRONMENTAL ENGAGEMENT OFFICER - TERM CONTRACT

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure sustainability and environmental projects and educational activities are delivered within the Richmond Valley organisation and community, in line with the Sustainable Communities Strategy priority targets and climate change responsibilities.
About the roleKey Accountabilities:
- Conduct environmental assessments and develop plans and strategies
- Collaborate with stakeholders from different departments and the community to identify opportunities for environmental improvements
- Develop and implement environmental initiatives such as Greening Program pilots, water conservation and climate resilience
- Monitor and report on the progress of environmental initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and recommend changes as needed
- Develop and deliver awareness-raising activities to staff and the community
- Proactive approach and understanding of climate change trends and best practices
We are looking for a strong communicator who can provide professional support, advice and assistance to internal and external customers on environmental health related matters. Someone who -
- Can improve community awareness of environmental management practices
- Can work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Is able to manage competing deadlines and changing priorities
We are seeking someone who has or is willing to obtain:
- Bachelor’s degree level qualification in environment or natural resource management or equivalent AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
- Class C Drivers Licence
Full time: 70-hour fortnight (Term Contract: 1 March 2024 - 1 March 2025)
Salary: Range from $74,469 to $85,638 pa + 11% super
